The Greatest Memories May Not Seem Picture Perfect - But Don\’t Forget to Take Them

When I think back to my childhood in Central Wisconsin, there are many things I will always remember. I remember my dad shoveling the snow into huge piles at the end of the driveway so we could make great snow forts. I remember making homemade ice skating rinks in our front yard. And I remember trying to slide down the hill - or should I say bump - in our front yard whiles standing in the sled.

It\'s a good thing I remember these things, because no one ever thought that these were the very memories I would hang on to for the rest of my life. I am the youngest child in my family, so my parents didn\'t take as many pictures of me as they did of my two older sisters. But few of the pictures I have match the memories I have.

Of all my school pictures, I can only remember one. It\'s the one in second grade where I was a sweaty mess and my teacher combed my hair into nasty strands of grease. We have tons of pictures of my sisters and I playing in the leaves, but we really didn\'t do this too much because my dad make us rake the leaves first. I want a picture of me in the snow fortresses I remember building!

This is a simple shout out to all the parents raising kids in the snow. If your kids\' pictures are all taken amidst colorful leaves or on the green grass, something is missing. Your kids will remember the snow. Will you?

Here\'s a few ideas of pictures you can take this winter:

1) your kids building their snow fort,

2) your kids in their cute hats and mittens,

3) the chaos of a day on the sleds,

4) a family outing at the ice rink.

Many professional photographers are slower in the winter and they\'re likely to offer a discount - so feel free to ask for one.
